NEXT COURSE STARTING MARCH 2015 

 

AcademicEnglish teaches practical courses in academic writing for academics, researchers and students in various fields of social sciences and the humanities. The course covers a wide range of problems that writers in academic disciplines face in their scholarly work. It provides resources and practical know-how for the entire writing process, including the organization of ideas, literature review, arrangement of arguments, stylistic devices, etc. The seminars take place in small groups of up to 5 attendants. Courses begin in October 2014 and March 2015. A sound knowledge of English (at least upper intermediate) in both speaking and writing is a prerequisite. 

 

The AcademicWriting practical course of AcademicEnglish will teach you how to: 

  • make appropriate use of various modes of discourse (such as exposition, review, narration, argumentation)
  • treat the previous scholarship on the subject (referencing, avoiding plagiarism)
  • organize your ideas on a chosen subject clearly and coherently
  • write in a concise and argumentative manner that proves your point while makes your writing flow
  • make a conference presentation (prepare and deliver a presentation)

Classes extend over 10 weeks, one unit a week. Topics covered:
